New BP Green Headquarters Cape Town
During 2003 I collaborated with fellow architect Ferdinand Holm in a competition for the design of
BP's new green head quarters in Cape Town. The competition was won by Kruger Roos Architects
and the building constructed shortly after. Our design was very similar in lay out to the winning
scheme with enclosed glass atriums between building flanks. These formed green houses with a
micro climate creating an extra barrier to the exterior weather. Heat gain and heat loss ventilation
strategies was proposed to passively control the buildings internal climate. Some ideas used in
the Project Phoenix competition we won previously was re-used in this design.
