Huis Yzerfontein
Huis Yzerfontein is currently in the construction phase and will be complete by November 2024.
A concrete roof consisting of 2 flat plates at different gradients are connected by a freeform shape that could be described as a vaulted shell which floats over the walls supported on a series of tapered columns. The design went through numerous iterations at first envisaged as plywood cells creating a honey comb structure. STP files generated with Rhino and Grasshopper for 5 axis CNC cutting in 18mm plywood turned out to be too expensive solution. The experience gained and the lessons learnt would hopefully in future be revisited for another project.
